We are in Rome

We are here in Rome. David is out exchanging dollars for euro as we speak. Yes, the apartment is dangerous for the 3 year old. The flights up inside the apartment are concrete, but we did find a dryer rack to block the entry. The wifi works. The washing machine is actually washer AND drier. I tested one electrical appliance and it worked. Yes, it is a very old old apartment. The sheets on the bed are ours to use, and they look pretty dingy but I looked at the mattress and its brand new, so I figure its just rustic. It takes 4 flights of stairs to get up here and the alleyway is hard to get down with a stroller. The car had to park down down the street. But the view is spectacular. Blogger is in Italian, so is Ni-Hao Ki-Lan and Yo Gabba Gabba. Gracie did great on the flight and slept most of the way. The flight over the pond was rough with lots of turbulence. Gracie was the only child on the plane. UPDATE: We did make it to DiPerDi market. Its sort of hard to believe we are actually here and already had a glimpse of the sites- on the way in. We found the car services with no problem and yes, they did have a child seat. It is now 7:30 at night and we took brief naps and Gracie ate a whole pile of graham crackers. We found Da Ada and we are going to go there for dinner. Good thing we brought flashlights.

Update: We ate at Alfredo e Ada, (No English, no menu, no coffee, no credit cards) It was very simple but very good. The staff loved Gracie and at the end of the meal they brought us these delicious cookies and kept bringing more for Gracie. They let you sit and talk for a long while before bringing the check. We loved it. After we walked around and found other very busy restaurants not far away. We are getting our bearings in the neighborhood already after only a day. It is not too difficult but you have to watch for traffic(as Gracie says) down the alleys, which are actually roadways. Smart cars are in abundance here as are fat guys on Vespas. It is a beautiful night out and I am having my cigar on the terrace. No Marie has not taken up cigar smoking it is me, David writing this part. I can see how people fall in love with this place. Rustic, yes but you have to appreciate the beautiful view. Gracie is a fantastic traveller and loves and is loved everywhere we go. Tomorrow is shopping, groceries and most likely Cuban Cigars.
