We are in Cayucos for our summer vacation 2010. We have a beach house, a washer and dryer, a wiggly 3.5 year old, and unexpectedly, internet access. Our little cottage has one bathroom, 3 bedrooms, a lawn n front and back. There is a washroom, complete with spare toilet and washer and dryer in the garage. The house is cape cod style, all in light blue, right out of 1983, ish, including carpet in the kitchen. Two tiny room are in the attic, accessible by a narrow staircase. Cayucos is a very small, sleepy town. A handful of antique stores, surf shops and a small grocery store, it is very different from touristy but lovely Cambria, about 14 miles north. It is amazing to see the beach with so few people on it. We were out early this am, at low tide, to gather seashells. Gracie is having a good time, playing in the sand, playing with her "schmuzzies" coloring and drawing, but has made the distinction between our "real house" and the "beach house" and has mentioned once or twice saying she would like to go home and see her dog or visit more of her schmuzzies. Yesterday, she ran for nearly a mile stopping to examine shells, or rocks, and kept running into the very cold water to catch some waves. We then walked back through the street, where her Mom and Dad picked out their favorite houses, if they only had a spare 2 million. We have been here for a few nights and spent it going to the beach, eating, napping, walking and doing a whole lot of nothing. Perfect.
